House boy steals N.6m items from employer’s house

A house boy has been nabbed for allegedly stealing items worth N616,000 from his employer’s house in Gwarinpa.

The suspect, identified only as David, worked as a house boy and a security guard at the house at Road 69 Adkan Estate, Gwarinpa and is reported to have carted away the items while his master was away.
A police source said due to the suspect’s duties, he had access into the rooms because he always tidied up the master’s room.
The items he allegedly stole included a Samsung Galaxy and Huawei handsets, digital camera, wrist watch, bag and cash.
The source said the master lodged a report at the police station last Wednesday and during preliminary investigation there was no forced entry or breakage detected in the house which led to the maid been invited to the station.
The Divisional Police Officer of Gwarinpa Police Station, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the house boy confessed to the crime, explaining that he thought the phones were faulty.
“He led us to where all the items were recovered except the money,” he said.
In another incident, CSP Sabo said the police also arrested two security guards attached to the house of a retired civil servant also in Gwarinpa.
He alleged that the suspect removed two air conditioners worth N180,000 from the house which he sold for N20,000 to a scavenger.
“One of them said he sold the air conditioner so that he could get money to pay for his examination,” he said.
He said all the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
