Team Launch-Pad emerges winner of #BounceCorruption Hackathons Competition
Team Launch-Pad has emerged winner of the #BounceCorruption Hackathons Competition staged by the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Advancement YIAGA under its #BounceCorruption project in partnership with Civil Innovation Lab CLAB with support from MacArthur Foundation in Nigeria.
The Launch-Pad team smiled home with a grand prize of N600, 000, a free co-working space for a month at the CLAB and a 3 weeks acceleration program with CLAB provides product development, business advisory support, mentorship and access to funding opportunities.
Launch-Pad emerged winner out of ten participants who contested for the top prize.
Team Gurudevs, and Team We Code emerged second and third bagging home the sum of N350, 000 and N250, 000 respectively.
Earlier, Chinoso Ani, the leader of the Launch-Pad team said their software is a crowd sourcing platform that aids community relations and tends to contribute knowledge to the fight against corruption.
“The App itself comes in a blog chain and a centralized system; it also works on several layers ranging from the mobile app layer, web layer, SMS and phone call. The essence of the SMS and phone call options id to bridge the gap of cultural barrier whereby if someone doesn’t understand English language or can’t read English, he or she can put a call through to us and we would respond instantly’ he added.
The competition which is in coincide with the International Anti-Corruption Day with the theme, “United against corruption for development”, peace and security, was staged to offer an opportunity to Track and Amplify anti-corruption cases; promote Anti-Corruption Education also get reliable, unbiased and regular information on the status of corruption case.
Similarly, the competition allowed young people to develop softwares, apps and citizen focused interactive platforms on developing solutions to fight corruption in Nigeria.
