Muhammad Bello, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has presented awards and certificates to 76 outstanding corps members from the 2011-2013 batches who served in the FCT.
The minister also inaugurated the governing board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), FCT chapter.
Speaking at the occasion, he assured that the backlog of corps members yet to be recognised would be cleared “to restore the confidence of the youths on the government.”
He said in the past, outstanding corps members were rewarded on the day they passed out, adding that the present administration was poised to return all systems to normalcy.
Represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, the minister called on the corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme wherever they found themselves and also be agents of the change mantra of the present administration.
On the newly inaugurated governing board, Bello reminded the members that they were faced with the responsibility of providing accommodation for the corps members serving in the FCT, taking up the affairs of the FCT NYSC and ensuring a hitch-free orientation process.
He urged them to be prudent with the funds available to the scheme as the present government would not spare any officer caught mismanaging any fund or in any act of corruption.
