Mr Abubakar Sadiq, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), caretaker chairman in the FCT has observed that youths in country are suffering.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) advised Nigerian youths to use their numerical strength to make the country better.

Sadiq said that youths constitute more than half of the country’s population.

“They are the majority and if you observe well, they are the ones suffering.

“They have the numerical strength to effect positive changes to make the country better.

“I want youths in this country to actively be involved in politics and other things to enable them to contribute to the nation development.

“Indulging in social vices, political thuggery and other criminal activities cannot contribute to the national development, rather, it will create negative image for the country.

“I wants youths to shun corruption, corrupt politicians and acts of indiscipline to make our country better, because we are the future of this country,” Sadiq said.

He said that the FCT chapter of the council would elect new officers that would re-position the council and give members sense of belonging.

In a related development, Mr Tijani Kabiru, the Chairman, NYCN Electoral Committee, said that sales of forms for election of new officers, which begun on Dec.1, would close on Jan. 25.
