Youth empowerment is panacea for depression’

In furtherance to its commitment towards ensuring that Nigerian youths are empowered enough to become self reliant, Taproot Multi Dynamic Concept, a business development company, held a two-day empowerment workshop for graduates in Lagos State.

The Lagos session, with more than 50 participants in attendance, was the 5th in the series of such workshop after a similar exercise was organised in Rivers, Plateau, Kaduna and Niger states.

The workshop dwelt on information technology, beads making, hair dressing and online trading aimed at assisting youths in finding their bearing in life.

Speaking on the importance of self-reliance as the way out of depression which is currently undermining the youths, Mrs Tolulope Gbadegeshin, a banker, noted that skill acquisition has become necessary for fact that the Nigeria’s education curriculum lacked entrepreneurial skills.

Gbadegeshin, also a network marketer, said that the security crisis in the country could be linked to too many educated but idle youths that wake up every day without work to do which is why Taproot Multi Dynamic Concept since its inception in April 2018 has been educating and empowering youths to be self-reliant.

“ The concept behind the programme is to bridge the social-economic gap that will spur economic growth while attracting foreign investment. We have testimonies of participants doing well in businesses with links to soft loans and grant agencies provided immediately after the training to avoid time lag,” Gbadegeshin said.

Mr Taiwo Kazeem, a participant, appealed to the organisers of the workshop to widen their publicity to enable other youths benefit from the programme, saying that he knew about the training through the social media.
