A 24-year-old man, Mautin Samson, who allegedly broke into a shop and stole items worth N172,000, on Monday appeared before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

Samson is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeoshun, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 16, 2018 at 11pm, at Exodus Car Wash Bus Stop, along Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

Adeoshun said that the accused  broke into the shop of the complainant, Mrs Queen Wahab.

“He stole one IPhone 5 valued at N83,000; two Nokia Touch phones valued at N11,000; one Android phone valued at N73,000, and cash of N5,000,”he said.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411  of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaya, granted the accused bail of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adekomaya said one the sureties should be  be related to the accused.

He adjourned the case until Jan.29. (NAN)
