The police on Monday docked a welder and a barber before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, over alleged membership of an unlawful society called Diamond Boys.

The welder, Musba Adeboye, 22, and the barber, Sodiq Olawole, 23, were also charged with conspiracy, fighting in public, possessing marijuana, and damaging vehicles at Iba area of Lagos State.

The accused, both of whom reside on Aratunmi Street in Iba, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, said that the accused were also caught with marijuana.

Ihiehie said that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 27 at 8:30p.m. at Chemist Bus-Stop, Iba.

He said the accused were arrested following a distress call that a group of young men were fighting at a party in Iba.

The prosecutor told the court that a team of policemen from the Iba Police Station were drafted to scene.

He said that police investigation revealed that group attended the party with the intention to fight and cause mayhem, leading to the destruction of property in the area.

The prosecutor said that one of the damaged cars belonged to Mr Saka Abibi.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 54, 350(a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, granted the accused
bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Kubeinje ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until March 4 for substantive hearing. (NAN)
