An auto mechanic, Lukman Abdulsalam, on Friday appeared before a Kado Area Court in Abuja, charged with selling a customer’s car valued at N150, 000.

Abdulsalam, who lives in Lambata area of Niger, is charged with alleged breach of trust and cheating.

According to the Prosecutor, Mr Zeera Douglas, the case was reported at the Utako Police Station on April 1.

Douglas told the court that the defendant illegally sold a BMW series 3 car, valued at N150, 000, belonging to one Mercy Kolawole.

The prosecutor told the court that the plaintiff had taken the vehicle to Abdulsalam’s workshop for repairs, but that instead of the repairs, the suspect sold out the car and converted the proceedss to personal use.

He said that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

Abdulsalam, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Yahaya Sheshe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000.

Sheshe ordered the defendant to produce one surety, who must be a chairman of a Jabi motor mechanic association, and a recent passport photograph, as part of the bail conditions, and adjourned the case to April 25, for hearing. (NAN)
