Killings: Resign Immediately, NYP Tells Service Chief
The Nigerian Youth Parliament has called for the sack of service chiefs in the country. This is even as the youth body stated that declaring a state of emergency over the continued killings will not justify the current situation but will only open an avenue for people to syphon public funds.
This was stated in a press statement signed by the head of media and publicity, Hon. Olafare Comfort.
The statement obtained by YouthsDigest read in part;
“We are surprised as to how the Nigerian government is taking the killings so lightly. Is it because the lives of Nigerians are cheap to the extent that the government does not even feel the killings anymore? Or is it because the general Buhari that Nigerians voted in is no longer respected or recognized by the service chiefs as the Commander-in-Chief?” the statement noted.
The statement also stated that it has become very worrisome that despite the killings, it is believed that the service chiefs are doing enough to curb killings despite the increasing rapid killings.
The Nigerian Youth parliament also condemned the killings at Auno, Borno state, while symphatising with the family of those who lost their lives in the process.
“It is now a fact that the inability of the service chiefs to deliver on their mandates is what brings doubts to the minds of ordinary citizens hence calls for agitations by citizens which in turn left some regions with no other choice than to look for security alternatives for safety of their people”
The parliament stated that it aligns with the position of the House of representatives that the service chief should resign with immediate effect.
